SMALL BUSINESS . BIG HEART
I qualified as an Aromatherapist over 30 years ago and am still as passionate about essential oils as when I first started.
With my clinically trained background, I became increasingly frustrated with the number of synthetic products available, offering no health benefits - so from my cottage, nestled in the beautiful Peak District and with an holistic approach in mind, I started my labor of love, researching and blending, testing and tweaking until finally AromaTherapy was born.
I strive to make myself different from the rest and I am committed to maintaining high and luxurious quality within my collection. I believe, once you have experienced using products made with natural, additive free ingredients and 100% pure essential oils you will be converted.
On a personal note and several years on, my volunteering work at our local Hospice continues within the complimentary therapy team, enabling me to treat patients on the ward and in the community, helping to provide a very caring, nurturing and holistic environment for all service users and witnessing first hand, how aromatherapy and complimentary therapies make a real difference to the quality of people's lives. Being a part of this wonderful team is an absolute privilege.
Because I do things differently.
Unlike most companies, I only use medical grade quality essential oils, and the highest quantity possible in each blend, giving you the ultimate experience in therapeutic benefits when used.
I use reputable suppliers and source organic ingredients where available.
Each product has been carefully researched, blended and handmade - ensuring high levels of quality control and personal care, right up to the shipping process.
I use glass containers where possible or recycled PETG where safety is necessary
Synthetic (Nature Identicals)
Synthetic products are chemically constructed and cannot be used therapeutically.
Paraffin wax is a compound derived from petroleum, which releases not only soot, but highly toxic compounds, such as benzene and toluene into the air when burned. Both are known carcinogens.
In fact, the toxins emitted from synthetically fragranced candles, that have been made from paraffin or even soy wax, are the same as those found in diesel fumes and have been linked to various health problems and respiratory distress.
I use medical grade essential oils and plant based wax which is 100% free of additives. It is renewable, biodegradable, non-toxic, slow burning (approx 40% slower than paraffin wax) and does not emit soot. When combined with pure essential oils, it creates a candle offering not only a beautiful natural aroma, but one with many wellbeing benefits also.
Aromatherapy (Natural)
When you peel an orange, squeeze a sprig of rosemary or lavender between your fingers or breathe in the heady scent of a rose, you are actually experiencing the aromas of essential oils in their natural form.
Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils via a number of methods, for example: inhalation, in baths or showers, or absorption through massage to treat the body for physical and emotional wellbeing. It is a valuable therapy and aids relaxation for both mind and body.
Essential oils are organic compounds found in plants. They are often referred to as the 'life force' of a plant and are normally present in small quantities.
They are distilled or extracted from flowers, leaves, some fruits, resins, roots and wood, and should always be treated with respect and great care.
Lavender grows in abundance. 100 kilos of lavender yields almost 3 litres of essential oil. Whereas 60,000 rose petals yield just 1 oz of essential oil. Jasmine, which needs to be picked by hand before the sun gets too hot, requires 8 million blossoms to yield 1 kilo of essential oil. Sandalwood must be 30 years old and 30 feet high before it can be used for distillation.
These labor intensive procedures are of course reflected in the cost of true essential oils, but without doubt, the benefits far out way the price tag.
* Please be aware of false labelling.
Many companies often mislead consumers by using fragrance oils, often with added essential oils, of which are mainly low grade in the distillate process and minimal, 1% or less natural or organic ingredients in their products and advertise it as pure or natural.
If the label does not clearly state that essential oils are in a product and are clearly listed in the ingredients, greatest first, by their botanical name, it is highly likely that the fragrance used is synthetic (often labelled as fragrance oil and/or parfum) and is therefore, devoid of any therapeutic benefit and of being truly natural.
Always check the label.
